Broken is the New Beautiful

trafficking1

God cares about the lost, the broken, and the sick of soul. All through His Word, He reminds us of His great love for those who need His love the most.

It hurts my heart so, so much when I hear a woman degrade herself. It hurts me just as much to hear a woman degrade another woman. Don’t we know how beautiful we are?

We have a choice of what we see when we look in the mirror. Do I see ugliness? Do I see broken and unusable? Do I see fat? Do I see tired or old? Do I see bitterness? Do I see hardness of heart? Do I see broken beyond repair?

But what does God see when He looks at us? He sees someone so loved, so valued, so treasured, so cared for, so protected, so endearing, so lovely, so true, so… perfect.

psalms13914I know: nobody’s perfect… right? Except when God looks at us, He sees us through the “rose-colored” glasses of His Son’s sacrifice. You, my friend, are LOVELY. His glory shines through you when you allow His strength to cover your weakness, His truth to cover your falsehood, His sacrifice to cover your every flaw.

So why would you waste your words with comparisons about how you’re not as pretty as… or not as talented as… or not as desirable as….

You. Are. Loved. You are wanted. You are valuable to a most High God. He sought you among the billions. Pursued you when you needed His rescue. Searched for you when you were lost in the world’s definition of your worth.

How does an object gain its value? It’s all in what someone will pay for it. I heard recently about a woman who paid 5$ for a painting she liked at a yard sale. She assumed it was a copy of a famed artist.. but when she looked into it further and asked an expert, she found she possessed a painting worth thousands of dollars. She then sold that painting and went to Hawaii exactly like I would do.

You see, maybe you think you’re more of the 5$ painting kind of person. But God? He thinks you belong in the priceless section. He loved you, yes [you girl], so much He was willing to sacrifice everything for you. He was willing to love you the hard way. For forever and no matter what. So don’t go degrade what God has made.

Choose to not call yourself ugly. Choose to not compare yourself to ANYBODY except the mirror of God’s Word. Choose to tell yourself every day that you are worth loving, worth happiness, worth a God’s favor and choice. You are loved.

So don’t leave this page the same person: go live your life loved. There really, truly is nothing quite as lovely to our human eyes as a woman who knows her value to God.
