Trust In the Lord: A Guest Post

Today’s guest post is brought to you by our youngest author we’ve hosted, but the truth she brings us is not just for the young: it’s for every woman. I hope Alayna M’s thoughts encourage you the way they encouraged me. ❤️

Before I was saved, I was very open about people who told me stuff. It was very easy for me to trust people that I shouldn’t trust. Anybody who told me something —I would  believe them and I ended up getting in trouble over it sometimes! I even ended up getting in trouble a few times at school because of me believing the rumors that people would tell me.

I remember a story from when I was in third grade:

I was told that my best friend was losing her mom. But as I was trying to put the pieces together, I asked her directly about the situation and she said that it was not true. Her mom had just dropped her off at school (she was fine). I had believed a lie that didn’t seem likely to be true.

Later, my mom told me that I could get help with learning to trust the right person. She taught me that I could trust in the Lord and He would help me know what to believe. These are the verses she showed me:

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

This is verse speaks about giving your life to the Lord: we should be leaning towards His understanding of things instead of leaning unto our own understanding. We can see His understanding of things through the Bible— we read and we figure out what we think it means and then we typically think, “What would God want me to think of this to mean?”

Another verse that can link to this verse and help with the understanding of this devotional could be, “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.”

2 Samuel 22:31

This verse means that you can bring everything to the Lord because He will be like a very strong shield protecting you, and you will not get hurt through a very strong sword. If you trust in the Lord with all your heart and mind you will not get hurt because you are on God’s side.

The next verse is “O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:”

Proverbs 7:1

This verse means that if you put your trust in Him, He will keep you safe throughout your lifetime.

“And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee”

Psalms 9:10

This means that if you have asked God to be your Lord and Savior and you are living your life like you should be that He will keep continuing to put a “hedge of protection” around you and help you get through your life whenever you need help.

The last verse that can help us learn about trust is “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psalm 18:2

This verse means that The Lord will be your rock through everything which means that He will be there for you to talk to and He will listen, He will also be with you and protect you through everything, He will also deliver you safely during whatever you choose to do.

He will also be the strength during your life, and your shield through everything, the horn of your salvation…. Maybe I shouldn’t believe everything people tell me, but I definitely can trust the God Who saved me.
